WWD unveiled its list of the 25 most desired places to workin fashion, narrowed down from a list of more than 200 designers, brands and companies cited in responses from two separate polls.
To determine the most desired companies, WWD conducted a social media survey on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and gathered responses from students at fashion schools in the U.S. and Europe, including The Fashion Institute of Technology, Savannah College of Art and Design, LIM College, Pratt Institute and London College of Fashion. There were more than 2,000 responses via social media and 405 from students.
On both the social media and student survey, Chanel was named the most desired company to work for, followed by Louis Vuitton. Trailing in third place was Christian Dior, followed by Alexander Wang, Diane von Furstenberg, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, H&M and Prada in the social media poll. In the student survey, however, Christian Dior, H&M, Burberry and Prada were switched out for Calvin Klein (those #mycalvins ads, guys), Salvatore Ferragamo, Michael Kors and Armani.
In poll responses and one-on-one interviews, WWD noted that many participants were "highly
emotional and passionate as well as thoughtful" in their responses, using words like "iconic", "dreamy" and "amazing" (ah, so descriptive). Company legacy also played a factor, as well as sustainable practices, positive work environments and opportunities for growth.
