You must be wondering, who is this Professor Herb, and why is he so important? Be patient, the story begins like this...
Once upon a time, in a small town in North Yorkshire, there was a little boy named Herbert Henry Watkins. As a son of a chemist, he was instantly drawn to chemistry and science and even won a place at a local high school when he was just 11 years old.
Herbert - or Herb, as his friends called him used his in-depth knowledge of chemistry and began developing products for his father, which he sold at the family store in York.
In 1864, Herb's father died and entrusted him with the entire family business. In this challenging time, Herbert was able to gather his thoughts and ideas and began working on new natural formulas to distinguish his product from all others on the market in England.
Herb insisted that his formulas contain only natural ingredients, and this soon proved to be a hit for Yorkers and a welcome change, given the quality of the products so far over the years.
His fame grew with the success of the products, and at the end of the 19th century, he received the nickname "Professor." It is believed that even the aristocracy used Herbert's products, after previous disappointments from the use of mass cosmetics for skincare.
Professor Herb died in 1914 at the age of 71, but fortunately for us, his formulations still live on, enabling us to bring these great products directly to you.
